Neograft Hair Restoration

Neograft™ Hair Restoration is a minimally-invasive, FDA-approved hair transplant method that can help treat male and female hair loss for people of any ethnicity. The procedure can also treat thinning eyebrows, beards and mustaches.

Hair Restoration for Men and Women

The newest method of hair restoration, utilizing the revolutionary NeoGraft Hair Transplant machine is now available at Healing Waters. The machine utilizes the Automated Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method to safely and effectively collect and implant individual follicular grafts.

Traditionally, hair restoration has been achieved by one of two methods: the “strip” method or manual FUE. In the strip method a strip of hair at the back of the scalp is grafted, then meticulously divided up into units of one to four hairs. The individual units of hair are then reattached to the balding areas of the scalp. While this method can be done more quickly, it typically leaves a visible linear scar at the grafting site. The other method, FUE, is a direct removal of follicles from the donor area using a tiny 1 mm punch and forceps. The punch makes a small circular incision around the hair follicles which is then removed from the scalp and grafted into smaller units and implanted similarly to the strip method. While eliminating the visible scarring experienced in the strip method, manual FUE is costly, time consuming, and associated with high risk of damage to the hair follicles from the use of forceps.

With the NeoGraft Hair Transplant machine our medical team is able to quickly and efficiently provide a “no touch” FUE transplant. NeoGraft uses pneumatic pressure to extract and implant the follicles, eliminating the need for handling the grafts with forceps thereby reducing the risk of damage. The automated process makes the procedure time and cost effective. NeoGraft is the first and only FDA approved automated medical device for hair restoration. The procedure is performed with local anesthetic and no intravenous or intra-muscular sedation is required.

NeoGraft can be used to treat both male and female hair loss for people of any ethnicity. NeoGraft can also be used to treat thinning eyebrows, beards and mustaches.

The benefits of the FUE method include:

  • Minimal discomfort
  • No scalpel incision, no sutures, no linear scar
  • Little to no risk of complications
  • Quick “next day” recovery time
  • Fewer activity limitations
  • More natural looking results than traditional strip methods

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I have a scar?

NeoGraft hair transplantation requires no stitches or staples and leaves no linear scars. The technique is minimally invasive, and scarring is rare.

How does NeoGraft compare with other hair transplant methods?

The NeoGraft hair transplant machine automates the follicular unit extraction (FUE), reducing both the cost and the amount of time required for the procedure. NeoGraft is less invasive with reduced potential for trauma to the follicles than manual FUE as it does not involve the use of forceps. Some additional advantages of NeoGraft include:

  • Local anesthesia
  • Faster recovery time
  • No sutures or staples
  • Fewer post-operative restrictions
  • No linear scar
  • The transplanted hair is your own

What are the risks?

NeoGraft FUE hair transplant surgery is typically less invasive with fewer potential complications than the traditional STRIP method. Although rare, some of the potential complications associated with NeoGraft include bleeding, scarring, and blood vessel or nerve damage.

Is it painful?

Patients may feel some discomfort from the injection of local anesthesia and some (often minimal) discomfort following surgery. Pain medication may be prescribed if necessary.

When does transplanted hair begin to grow?

Although individual results will vary, the newly transplanted hair follicles typically begin to grow new hair within three to five months of the procedure.

Will I need more than one hair transplant?

NeoGraft’s automated FUE method transplants a substantially higher number of grafts than a typical manual FUE procedure. The number of follicular grafts that need to be transplanted for optimal results will vary individually and will depend in part upon the degree of hair loss. Your specific situation will be assessed during your consultation, and a treatment plan will be tailored to your needs and aesthetic goals.
