Hybrid Fractional Laser Treatment
The Halo from Sciton is the world’s first hybrid fractional laser delivering ablative results with non-ablative downtime and an unprecedented ability to customize treatments. Unlike other laser treatments, Halo allows our providers to control both the level of ablation (how deeply the laser treats the skin) and fractionation (the proximity of treated cells).
Halo precisely targets years of damage to your skin, including:
- Sun damage
- Visible signs of aging
- Uneven skin tone
- Enlarged pores
- Poor texture
- Fine lines
- Scar revision
Ablative Or Non-Ablative Procedure?
Ablative laser treatments have long been considered one of the most effective methods for improving aging skin. Ablation removes the outer layers of damaged skin, which triggers the healing process. The healing process increases collagen production and restructure, allowing for the formation of tighter, rejuvenated skin. However, the results come at the cost of lengthy downtime, often 1-2 weeks.
Non-ablative laser treatments are far less invasive with little or no downtime. They work by heating up the outer layers of skin, but not actually removing them. As a result, several treatments are required to achieve optimal results. The reduced downtime has made non-ablative treatments the preferred choice for those who need to resume normal activity right away.
The Halo Hybrid Fractional Laser works by delivering both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to the same treatment zone. This gives Halo the unique ability to provide separate treatments for the epidermis (the skin surface), which heals quickly, and the dermis (the deeper, collagen layer of skin), which remodels more slowly over time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Anyone unhappy with the early signs of aging, areas of dark pigmentation, and uneven skin texture may benefit from the Halo Laser. The ideal patient is in generally good health, understands the laser treatment process, and holds reasonable expectation for results. The Halo can be combined with other invasive and nonsurgical treatments to provide optimal skin rejuvenating results.
Patients can expect redness and mild swelling following a Halo Laser treatment. It is also common for the skin to be tender for several days. Within the first 24 hours, your skin will begin undergoing changes that will last approximately four days. This will include a peeling process and a temporary bronzing appearance. By day three or four your skin will peel, revealing your new skin beneath, but you will continue to see improvement over time. Most patients see the greatest pigmentary improvement in the first two to three weeks. This is followed by a dermal regeneration phase that continues to improve for months.
Halo is a complete skin rejuvenation treatment. You will see improvements in overall tone and texture in addition to significant removal of discoloration, reduction in fine lines, reduced pore size, skin reflectivity and glow.
What is great about Halo is that you can choose how many treatments you want! You can choose to have one or two more aggressive treatments or have multiple treatments that are less aggressive and achieve a similar goal over a longer period of time.
Thirty minutes to an hour before the treatment a topical ointment will be applied to your skin to reduce the sensation during the treatment. We will then measure your face with motion tracking technology to ensure your face is treated evenly. Your face will be treated a section at a time by rolling the Halo handpiece in a crisscross pattern until the system recognizes the treatment is complete.
With a topical anesthetic and integrated cooling technology, most patients experience very little discomfort. Most patients describe the treatment as a feeling of heat with occasional prickling sensations, but are generally comfortable. After the treatment, most patients will continue to feel warm for an additional 15 to 30 minutes.
Absolutely. For the first 24 hours you should keep your skin protected per your post-care instructions, but after that you should be able to go about your normal activities. After the first 24 hours your skin will begin to peel, but you will be able to put on makeup. For a facial treatment, you will see very little change on the first day. After two to three days you will develop a light bronzing appearance. By day three or four your skin will peel, revealing your new skin beneath.
You will see initial results between two and five days after your Halo treatment, but your skin will continue to improve over time. Most patients see the greatest pigmentary improvement in the first two to three weeks. This is followed by a dermal regeneration
phase that continues to improve for months.
Your Halo results will last for years to come, but you should continue to keep your skin protected at all times using UV sunscreen to protect your new, healthy skin. Each additional Halo treatment you get will only improve the results, giving you even better looking skin.
