Kybella may be right if you are over 18 and bothered by a double chin but don’t want surgery. Ideal candidates eat well and exercise but struggle with submental fullness. You cannot be treated if you have an infection in the treatment area.

Bruising and swelling may be experienced for 2-3 weeks after your treatment, but most people can resume normal activities immediately.

Most individuals will see results after 2-4 treatments.

Some individuals may experience mild pain after treatment. To help alleviate this, we may have you apply a cold compress to the area before treatment. Your nurse will determine if a local anesthetic is necessary as well.

When injected into the fat under the chin, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat. After reaching your desired aesthetic, further treatment is not expected.

The injection site may be sensitive after treatment, and swelling is likely. In clinical studies, most reported cases of swelling were mild or moderate and generally became less severe and happened less often with each treatment. To help reduce pain and swelling, your nurse may apply a cold pack or local anesthesia to the area. Besides swelling, other common side effects include bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area. Serious but uncommon side effects include nerve injury in the jaw (which can cause an uneven smile or facial muscle weakness) or trouble swallowing.

Since everyone’s chin size and shape differ, the number of treatments required varies from patient to patient. During a complimentary consultation, a Healing Waters nurse or physician will recommend a treatment course personalized to your needs and goals. Each KYBELLA® treatment session is given at least one month apart, and you should not receive more than six treatments. In clinical studies, 59% of patients received six treatments.

After a Kybella treatment, it is essential to avoid lying down for at least 4 hours, rubbing or massaging the treated area, and avoiding intense exercise for at least 24 hours. You may also experience some mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection site, and keeping the area clean and dry is essential. You should also avoid exposing the treated area to excessive heat or sunlight.

The recovery time after a Kybella treatment is minimal. You can expect to return to normal activities immediately after the treatment, although you may experience mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection site. These side effects typically resolve within a few hours to a few days. The full impact of Kybella can take several weeks to several months to become apparent as the body continues to break down and absorb the destroyed fat cells.
